Body Treatments

This course provides students with comprehensive training in professional body treatment services commonly offered in spa and wellness environments. Emphasis is placed on understanding the importance of skin stimulation, hydration, circulation, and relaxation for areas of the body beyond facial treatments. Students will develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to deliver safe, effective, and client-centered body treatments.

Through this course, students gain a foundational understanding of human anatomy and physiology as it relates to body treatments, enabling them to perform services with proper technique, safety, and professional confidence. Instruction includes the principles of relaxation massage, therapeutic touch, and holistic wellness approaches that enhance both physical and emotional well-being.

Students will receive hands-on training in a variety of massage modalities and body therapies, learning how to assess client needs, select appropriate techniques, and adapt treatments to different body types and wellness goals.

Key areas of study include:

Anatomy and Physiology of the Body: Structure and function of the muscular, skeletal, circulatory, and lymphatic systems as they relate to body treatments.

Relaxation Massage Techniques: Full-body massage techniques including effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, and vibration, with a focus on relaxation, stress reduction, and improved circulation.

Hot Stone Massage: Principles, benefits, contraindications, and safe application of heated stones to promote deep muscle relaxation and therapeutic effects.

Aromatherapy Massage: Use of essential oils, blending basics, therapeutic benefits, safety considerations, and integration of aromatherapy into massage treatments.

Introduction to Reflexology: Basic concepts of reflex points and their role in promoting relaxation and overall balance.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to perform professional body treatments with confidence, apply proper hygiene and safety standards, and deliver relaxing, client-focused services aligned with industry expectations in spa and wellness settings.
